This session will address state and local tax considerations for remote workers and virtual fundraising for nonprofit organizations. This includes the impacts of COVID-19 on state and local taxes across the country and how nonprofits are staying compliant with state tax obligations in a post-pandemic world.

Learning Objectives:

  • Examine nonprofit state and local tax obligations (sales and income tax).
  • Discuss tax considerations for fundraising activities (both in-person and virtual). 
  • Identify how remote work can change compliance obligations.
Presenters:
Dylan Lien, Senior Manager | Eide Bailly
Dylan is a senior manager with Eide Bailly LLP and has sixteen years of tax experience within state and local tax, with a focus in sales and use tax.  Dylan has consulted on a wide range of state and local tax issues nationally, across many different industries.  Dylan holds a Bachelor of Science in Real Estate from Saint Cloud State and a Master’s of Business Administration from Hamline University.  He is also a Certified Member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, and a member of the Hamline University Accounting Advisory Board.

Jennifer Barajas, CPA, Manager | Eide Bailly
Jennifer assists clients in a variety of state and local tax areas including state income/franchise/gross receipts filing methods, revenue sourcing strategies, nexus studies, sales/use tax taxability and audit defense. Additionally, she assists clients in planning for business expansion into new jurisdictions, potential mergers and acquisitions and other type of business changes from year to year.
