Event Overview


Course Description:

This presentation provides an update on key Medicare reimbursement areas of concern and areas of opportunity for health systems, including the related owned or controlled hospitals, clinics, etc. We will discuss the Medicare IPPS final rule, pricing transparency, wage index, bad debts, worksheet S-10, low volume payment adjustments and other areas of significance. The presentation is intended to provide the attendee with specific items their facility should focus on regarding reimbursement.

Explore the key areas and updates regarding Medicare reimbursement for PPS hospitals
Discuss recent regulatory updates and compliance changes regarding uncompensated care reporting, bad debt requirements, wage index, price transparency and other areas
Provide updates and insights related to provider relief funding and present reimbursement implications related to patient volume decreases

Ryan Ashland, Senior Manager, Healthcare Reimbursement | Eide Bailly 

Ryan has more than 25 years working in healthcare finance, including almost 10 years of public accounting experience and over 15 years in various finance roles at Mayo Clinic.  Through the years he’s become a trusted partner for finance and operational leaders. He has successfully completed several system conversions and department reorganizations while providing finance support to operational and revenue cycle leaders. Ryan is an expert in healthcare reimbursement and has completed Medicare cost reports and numerous other reimbursement filings and projects for a variety of clients. 

Brian Bertsch, Principal, Healthcare Consulting | Eide Bailly 
Brian has been with Eide Bailly since 1997 and provides consulting services for hospitals, long-term care facilities and other healthcare entities. He's an experienced professional when it comes to the complexities of preparing and reviewing Medicare, Medicaid and other third-party reimbursement reports for hospitals and nursing homes. He also helps Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs) and Prospective Payment System (PPS) hospitals navigate the complex Medicare rules and regulations.
